How to make a print screen?

On regular laptops ( notebooks ) and other personal computers you can make a print screen with the print screen button of the keyboard. Is this possible with the pi-top model 2.0 ?

The easiest way is to open a terminal windows and type scrot. Normally, this is also mapped to the print key, but there is no print key on the keyboard. If you need to put it on a key, I can also explain you how to do that.

When booting a pi-top in Raspbian ( not the default Polaris OS ) the button left before the del button is not used and it looks like a printscreen button. Is it difficult to use this button for the printscreen?

Thank you for the explanation.

Attached is a text file with the description.

Thank you, i have followed your instructions and it worked from the first time.

Open a terminal and type:

  cd
  cd .config/openbox
  leafpad lxde-pi-rc.xml

search for </keyboard>

This is the end of the keyboard section. Just above that line,
add the following 4 lines:

    <keybind key="0xCA">
      <action name="Execute">
        <command>scrot</command>
      </action>
    </keybind>

This will now look as follows:

    <keybind key="0xC9">
      <action name="Execute">
        <command>lxterminal</command>
      </action>
    </keybind>
    <keybind key="0xCA">
      <action name="Execute">
        <command>scrot</command>
      </action>
    </keybind>
  </keyboard>

If you have checked that everyrhing is ok, save and close the editor

Reboot your pi-top, use this new key and check for the screendump
in your home directory.

Note:in pi-topOS a different key must be used, because the key to the
left of the del key is already used. I propose to use key="A-p", which
means alt-p.
